Saint John sweeps P.E.I.

In New Brunswick Junior Baseball League action

SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Saint John swept the P.E.I. Carpenter's Union Local 1338 Juniors in a New Brunswick Junior Baseball League doubleheader here recently.

Scores were 11-7 and 5-3.

Despite trailing 8-0 after one inning of the first game, P.E.I. battled back to narrow the score to 8-7 in the fourth. Nick MacPhail doubled and homered in three at-bats to lead P.E.I.’s offence.

P.E.I. starter Tyson Blue, who was relieved by Colin Arsenault, took the loss.

 

Second game

In the second game, Saint John scored single runs in each of the first five innings.

Brady Arsenault was the losing pitcher, with MacPhail working a scoreless inning in relief.

Offensively, Nathan McInnis went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate while MacPhail recorded another two hits.

 

This weekend

P.E.I. will participate in the second annual Mitch MacLean/Tanner Craswell/Tabitha Stepple Memorial tournament this weekend. P.E.I.’s first game is against Dartmouth on Friday at 4 p.m.
