Chevys prevail in pitching duel

SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside Chevys prevailed 4-0 over the Sherwood Knights in a P.E.I. Peewee AAA Baseball League game here at Queen Elizabeth Park’s Gordie Arsenault Field on Monday night.

Summerside pitchers Bennett MacArthur and Ben MacDougall hooked up with Sherwood starter Noah Duckworth in a pitching duel as the Chevys held a slim 1-0 lead through five innings.

The Summerside tandem combined to hold Sherwood to just two hits while striking out 12 batters through seven innings. Sherwood pitchers sat down 11 Chevys.

MacDougall earned the pitching win while Duckworth was saddled with the loss.

Dylan Thomas (2-3, RBI) and MacDougall (1-2, RBI) keyed the Chevys at the plate.

Top batters for Sherwood were Keagan Legere (1-1, double, walk) and Garrett Hebert (1-3).

The Chevys travel to Kensington to take on the Crusaders on Tuesday at 6 p.m., before heading to a tournament in Bedford, N.S., this coming weekend.
