CHARLOTTETOWN – The P.E.I. Youth Selects recently picked up their first win in the Kings County Baseball League (KCBL).
A four-run fourth inning, keyed by RBI hits from Kyle Pinksen, Brody Weatherbie and Brett Hicken, sent the Selects to a 5-2 win over the Action Aero Expos 5-2 at Memorial Field.
Patrick Gallant and Avery Arsenault had the other two hits for the Selects.
Drew Grady worked four strong innings to earn the pitching win. Ethan Laybolt and Matt Barlow provided relief and the three pitchers combined to give up only four hits while striking out six. All the Selects’s runs came off Expos starter John Walsh, who went the distance. Walsh gave up five hits and struck out six.
Walsh led the Expos at the plate with an RBI double and a single in three trips.
