SUMMERSIDE – Ben MacDougall pitched a no-hitter for the Summerside Chevys here at Queen Elizabeth Park’s Gordie Arsenault Field on Monday night.
MacDougall only allowed three base runners – one walk and two errors – in the Chevys’ 10-0 win over the Charlottetown Royals in the P.E.I. Peewee AAA Baseball League.
MacDougall also helped his own cause offensively, batting 3-for-3, including two home runs and four runs driven in. Bennett MacArthur (2-3, double, three RBI) also had a big game offensively for Summerside.
Josh Dow was the pitcher of record for the Royals.
The Royals and Chevys will meet again in an exhibition contest as part of the Summerside Area Baseball Association’s (SABA) Opening Day festivities at Queen Elizabeth Park on Saturday. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. All SABA teams take part in game action, which begins at 9 a.m.
