Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour
RIVER GLADE, N.B. – Jonathan Hicken of Brudenell scored his third win of the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour season here at Petty Raceway on Saturday evening.
Hicken took the lead for the final time on Lap 86, and held off hard-charging sophomore Cole Butcher of Porters Lake, N.S., to win the Atlantic Dodge Dealers 150.
Another Islander, Greg Proude of Springvale, rallied to a third-place finish from his 13th-place starting position to take home the Exide Batteries hard-charger award.
Points leader John Flemming of Halifax, N.S., and his closest rival in Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, N.B., completed the top five after George Koszkulics of New Glasgow, N.S., ran out of fuel in the final two laps of the event.
Hicken was fast from the start of the day as shown by his Atlantic Tiltload fast time of 13.649 seconds, and led the most laps in the feature to pocket the Linde most laps led award and a pivotal five points in the championship chase.
After a mix-up of the top eight drivers and a 10-lap dash, Tucker won the King Freight dash and started the main feature on the pole.
Exide Batteries rookie of the year contender Sarah McKay of Quispamsis, N.B., won her first Dartmouth Dodge heat race along with Moncton’s Jason Carnahan.
New to the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour this weekend was the bonus dash, won by Joel Hickox of Cornwall, P.E.I.
A total of nine lead changes took place among Hicken, Flemming and Tucker over the exciting 150-lap feature, which took 88 minutes to complete.
The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour takes a weekend off before the penultimate event on the 2014 season on Saturday, Sept. 6 – the Lucas Oil 150 at Riverside International Speedway. Tickets on sale now at www.riversidespeedway.ca.
