At Softball Canada national junior women's championship

MONTREAL – The Charlottetown Mariners moved into the win column at the Softball Canada national junior women’s championship early Thursday evening.

The Mariners erupted for six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to turn a 5-4 lead into an 11-4 victory over Quebec Etoiles AA. The game was called after 5 ½ innings due to the mercy rule.

Brittany Doucette, Heather Drake and Priscilla Curran all had two hits for the Mariners. Curran and Kate Cashin each drove in three runs while Hilary Pineau plated a pair.

Curran worked three innings to earn the pitching win, and Cashin pitched the other two.

The victory leaves the Mariners at 1-2 (won-lost) in the under-21 tournament.
