Mitch Hardy has pitched four games so far

QUAD CITIES, IOWA -- Summerside Chrysler Dodge Eagles workhorse Mitch Hardy threw a one hitter and struck out nine batters in leading his team to a 7-0 win over Geo Per Texas in a do-or-die game Friday night in Quad Cities, Iowa.

The O’Leary-based Eagles will need to win four more games Saturday if they are to achieve their goal of winning the “AA” Major Division of the North American Fastpitch Association’s World Series of Softball.

Hardy has pitched every inning of the Eagles four games so far and team spokesman Darcy Harris said the Eagles will be going with him again Saturday morning against an opponent yet to be determined. Hardy batted 1-3 in the Friday night game.

Following a 1-0 loss Friday afternoon in their first game (in two extra innings) of the double elimination portion of the tournament, the Eagles have their backs to the wall and must keep winning to keep going.

Top Eagles batters against the Houston, Texas-based Geo Per were Mike MacIsaac (2-3, two RBI) and Troy Ellsworth (1-2, two RBI).
