The Summerside Chrysler Dodge Eagles opened the North American Fastpitch Association World Series with a 4-3 victory on Thursday.
The O’Leary-based Eagles defeated Washington’s Cleon’s Auto 4-3.
The Eagles led 3-1 through four innings, but gave up single runs in the fifth and sixth innings before winning the game in the bottom of the seventh.
Mitch Hardy gave up three runs (one earned) on five hits for the win. He struck out 11 and walked six.
Hardy helped his own cause with two hits, an RBI and a run. Jamie Betts, John Ellsworth, Jason Smallman, Mike MacIsaac and Troy Ellsworth also contributed to the Eagles’ seven-hit attack.
The Eagles play Kelso FP at 5 p.m. ADT.
