In Parts For Trucks 100
OYSTER BED BRIDGE – Jonathan Hicken of Brudenell pulled out an exciting win on home soil Saturday night.
Hicken took advantage of a late race restart with eight laps to go to edge out John Flemming of Halifax, N.S., in the Parts For Trucks 100 at Oyster Bed Speedway in the seventh event of the 2014 Parts For Trucks Pro Stock Tour season.
Hicken led for a total of 31 laps en route to his second win of 2014. Flemming, who was in front for 53 of the 100 laps to take the Linde most-laps-led award, had to settle for second, ahead of Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, N.B.
The three swapped top spot six times amongst themselves throughout the event. Fourth place belonged to Cole Butcher of Porters Lake, N.S., who snuck by a hard-charging George Koszkulics for the Exide Batteries hard-charger award. Koszkulics, who started last and finished fifth, is from New Glasgow, N.S.
Dylan Blenkhorn of Truro, N.S., won his fifth Atlantic Tiltload time trial award in seven races by pacing the field with a 13.451-second lap. Flemming captured the King Freight dash for cash, and Craig Slaunwhite of Terence Bay, N.S., and Robbie MacEwen of Sherwood took home Dartmouth Dodge heat races.
Seven yellow flags slowed the 100-lap event, which included two late race restarts with less than 10 laps to go.
The stars of the Parts For Trucks Pro Stock Tour next hit the oval for 250 gruelling laps of fender-to-fender racing in the Atlantic CAT 250 at Scotia Speedworld on Saturday, Aug. 9, beginning at 5 p.m. Canada’s best stock car drivers will be striving for victory and their piece of the $50,000 purse.
Tickets available at the gate on race day.
