CHARLOTTETOWN – Darlene Hackett drove in four runs to lead the Subway Sluggers to an 8-1 win over the Cornwall Cougars in a women’s softball game here recently.
The Sluggers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning on Hackett’s two-run base hit. The Sluggers, backed by a three-hitter by winning pitcher Audrey Buchanan, tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 5-0 advantage.
Hackett, who led the Sluggers with a 3-for-4 batting summary, then scored two more runs on a base hit in the sixth inning. Nancy MacDougall (1-1, two walks) was Subway’s other leading hitter.
Losing pitcher Jordan Havenga (2-3, two triples) and Kailey Keoughan (1-3) were Cornwall’s top batters.
