CHARLOTTETOWN – Noah Giddings is a UPEI Panther.

Men’s basketball coach Tim Kendrick made the announcement in a news release Wednesday.

Giddings, a six-foot-four forward from the Charlottetown Rural Raiders, will join the team in September.

“I believe that playing for the Panthers will be a great fit for me, for a variety of reasons,” the 17-year-old Stratford said. “I intend to work hard in the classroom and on the court, and prove that I can contribute and be a good fit for the team.”

Giddings was a key contributor for a Raiders team that won the last two P.E.I. School Athletic Association (PEISAA) championships. He also represented P.E.I. at the nationals with the under-15 and -17 programs, including the 2013 Canada Games team in Sherbrooke, Que.

“Noah is a big, strong young man, and has a tremendous upside,” Kendrick said. “He is another great character piece, and we know he will work hard to improve his game.”

Giddings is enrolled in the bachelor of science program and will be majoring in biology.

“I am sure that this young man will give us his best attitude and effort in the classroom and on the basketball court,” Kendrick said.
