Evangeline School's students of year recognized during gala

ABRAM-VILLAGE – Four of the most prestigious awards handed out during the Evangeline School Awards Gala are for students of the year.

The 2013-14 senior awards went to graduating students Joel Arsenault and Kaylee Arsenault. Joceline LeBlanc and Owen Gallant, who are both in Grade 9, were the recipients for the intermediate level.

Evangeline School principal Jeanne Gallant says Kaylee Arsenault is a “very well-rounded student.” She goes on to say the daughter of Lynn and Dick Arsenault, who is vice-president of the student council and president of the yearbook committee, is a good athlete, very involved in her community and gives freely of her time to volunteer at different functions.

“(Kaylee is) very pleasant, positive, outgoing, responsible student,” said Gallant.

Joel Arsenault excels academically, is an outstanding athlete, gives back his time by coaching sports of the Jeux de l’Acadie and Evangeline School’s badminton team and also volunteers with other sporting organizations, notes Gallant.

“Very devoted, calm, determined and respected student,” said Gallant in describing the son of John and Marcia Arsenault. “(A) very deserving student.”

Intermediate awards

LeBlanc, says Gallant, is a good leader, is very involved in community organizations, contributes to student life, is a strong academic student, is involved in sports teams, is a tutor with the tutoring club and is very proud of her culture.

LeBlanc’s parents are Phil and Paulette LeBlanc.

Owen Gallant, meanwhile, is the son of Randy and Jennifer Gallant.

The Evangeline School principal says Gallant is a good leader, very involved in community organizations, a tutor with the tutoring club, surpasses expectations in certain academic courts, is a very strong academic student, contributed to student life and plays in a musical group.
