Proude top Island driver at season-opening event

In Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour

HALIFAX – Greg Proude of Springvale was the top P.E.I. driver in the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour’s season-opening Harry Poole Memorial 100 event here Saturday.

Proude finished sixth and was one of seven P.E.I. drivers in the 26-car field. Jonathan Hicken of Brudenell was eighth; Darren MacKinnon of Milton Station finished ninth; Kent Vincent of Crapaud came 15th; Joel Hickox of Cornwall had an 18-place finish; Terry Dougay of Albany was 20th, and Dylan Gosbee of Cornwall came 21st.

Shawn Turple of Enfield, N.S., won the race. John Flemming of Halifax, N.S., and Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, N.B., were second and third.

The tour’s next event is the Irving Blending and Packaging 100 at Petty International Raceway in River Glade, N.B., on Saturday, May 31. The action will get underway at 6 p.m.
