Suns win fifth straight tournament

PROFIT’S CORNER – The Summerside Suns won their fifth straight Volleyball P.E.I. 14-Under Girls League Tier 1 tournament recently.

The Suns, who went a perfect 6-0 (won-lost) in the round-robin format that featured no playoffs, have now won five of the six league tournaments this spring. The provincial championship will be played at Colonel Gray in Charlottetown on Tuesday, with play starting at 5 p.m.

The Suns defeated Kensington Team Two 24-4, Cornwall 20-14, the Colonels 20-13, Kensington Team One 22-11, Birchwood 25-13 and West Prince 18-15.

Kensington Team One, Cornwall Red Mudd and the Colonels rounded out the top-four teams, followed by West Prince, Kensington Team Two and Birchwood.
