SUMMERSIDE – The Colonel Gray boys have punched their ticket to the semifinals of the 18th annual David Voye Memorial rugby tournament.
The Colonels blanked Horton High from Wolfville, N.S., 49-0 on Friday to complete round-robin play at 2-0 (won-lost) atop Pool D. Gray will face the first-place team in Pool B, which will be determined later Friday evening, in one of two semifinal games on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Jarrod MacAdam (3), Damen Allkabalan (2), Sam Jenkins (2), Taylor Perry and Duncan Rixon all scored trys for the Colonels. Connor Moerike kicked two converts.
In the other 6 p.m. games, Halifax West defeated Westisle 17-5 and Colonel Gray got by Horton High 12-7 in girls’ action.
Rachel MacDonald scored two trys to lead Halifax West while Emily Nolan added a try and convert.
Alivia Berrington and Anika Dykerman counted trys for the Gray girls. Bailey Andrews added a convert.
Emily West (try) and Shay Beaton (convert) provided Horton’s offence.
