Suns win Tier 1 Division crown in tournament play

Tigers claim Tier 2 title

PROFIT’S CORNER – The Summerside Suns and Stonepark Tigers won the Week 5 tournaments in the Volleyball P.E.I. 14-Under Girls League recently.

The Suns won the Tier 1 Division, and the Tigers were the top team in Tier 2.

Tier 1

The Suns continued to show their dominance, but opposing teams did not make it easy.

The Suns beat the Colonels 21-13 in the final.

Summerside Team Two defeated West Prince in the bronze-medal match 22-16 in what was West Prince's best tournament to date.

The Cornwall Red Mudd finished in fifth place, followed by KISH Team Two, which defeated its Kensington counterparts in a consolation semifinal. KISH Team One was seventh, and Birchwood rounded out the standings.  

Tier 2

After going 4-0 (won-lost) in the round robin and receiving a bye to the final, the Tigers narrowly defeated the Summerside Suns 23-21.

The young Colonels’ team was able to take home third place, after defeating the West Prince Islanders 21-20.

The younger Tier 2 category continues to improve each week, leading up to the provincials on May 13.  

Both tiers

A total of 15 teams compete in both the Tier 1 and Tier 2 groups.

The next tournament will take place at Summerside Intermediate School on Tuesday, May 6, starting at 5:15 p.m.

The teams have one more week before the provincials. The next tournament takes place at SIS on Tuesday, May 6th, starting at 5:15 p.m.
