Phillips returning as co-emcee
SUMMERSIDE – Some of the celebrities participating in the Summerside portion of the 25th anniversary of the Special Olympics Festival have been announced.

Special Olympics P.E.I. athlete Paul Phillips and Summerside Mayor Basil Stewart discuss the 25th anniversary of the Special Olympics Festival on June 24. The Summerside portion of the event will include a luncheon at Credit Union Place.
The festival, which is being held on June 24, is the largest annual fundraising event for Special Olympics P.E.I. The two-part event includes a luncheon in Summerside at Credit Union Place, and a gala dinner and auction in Charlottetown at the Delta Prince Edward Hotel.

Summerside native and Montreal Canadiens assistant coach Gerard (Turk) Gallant has been announced as one of the attending celebrities. Gallant will join the head table for the festival luncheon in Summerside, and will participate in a question-and-answer panel with other celebrities guests, including Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman and captain Dion Phaneuf and actress Elisha Cuthbert.
Additional celebrity guests are expected to be announced in the coming days.
Special Olympics P.E.I. is a charitable organization dedicated to enriching the lives of Islanders with an intellectual disability through sport. More then 500 athletes train and compete in over 50 programs, year round, in communities across the Island.

It was also announced that Special Olympics P.E.I. athlete Paul Phillips will also return as co-master of ceremonies for the Special Olympics Festival.
