Storm advances in NBL of Canada playoffs

MONCTON, N.B. – The Island Storm is going to the National Basketball League of Canada’s second round.

The Storm defeated the Moncton Miracles 104-88 Sunday in Game 4 of their best-of-five quarter-final. The Storm won the series 3-1.

Nick Okorie led the way with 25 points while Ed Jones had 18 and Al Stewart 17.

Antonio Ballard chipped in with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Dwayne Smith scored 10.

Trayvon Lathan and Johnny Mayhane had 22 and 21 points, respectively, for Moncton.

The Storm held quarter leads of 27-23, 50-41 and 75-62.

The Storm will play Halifax in the second round after the Rainmen knocked off the Atlantic Division champion Saint John Mill Rats 123-102 Sunday to win their series in four games.

Jason Williams led the way with 26 points while Brian Addison added 24 points and 14 rebounds.

Anthony Anderson led Saint John with 42 points.
