KENSINGTON – Kensington and area boys and girls aged nine to 14 recently participated at the council level of the Knights of Columbus basketball free-throw championships.

The competition was held during the school lunch periods, and involved over 40 participants at Queen Elizabeth Elementary School (QEES) and Kensington Intermediate-Senior High (KISH).

Each contestant attempted 15 free throws, and all ties were settled by successful rounds of five free throw per contestant until a winner emerged.

The council champions earned the right to participate at the district-level championship, which will be held at KISH on Wednesday, March 10, at 7 p.m. District champions go on to the provincial championship, which will be held at Vernon River Consolidated School on Saturday, April 5, at 1 p.m.

The Kensington Knights of Columbus acknowledges the support provided by KISH athletic director Logan Roche and QEES athletic director Renata Wigmore, and congratulate all the participants who “stepped up to the line” and demonstrated their free-throw shooting skills.
