Lenentine vs. MacKay; MacFadyen vs. DeWolfe for girls, boys under 16 curling titles

ALBERTON -- Donald DeWolfe and his Cornwall rink will play defending champion Alex MacFadyen from the Silver Fox for thr O’Conner Glass Curl P.E.I. Under 16 Boys provincial curling title this evening at 6 p.m. at the Western Community Curling Club. DeWolfe, who finished five-team round robin play in second place with a 3-1 record, finished off third place Alex Gallant (2-2) from Silver Fox 11-1 in the semi-final Sunday afternoon to earn the right to play MacFadyen for the provincial title. MacFadyen cruised through the round-robin with a 4-0 record, including a 12-4 win over DeWolfe Saturday morning, to earn a bye into the final.

The girls final will see Lauren Lenentine’s defending champion Cornwall rink facing the Kaleigh MacKay Crapaud/Montague foursome..

MacKay defeated Lenentine in both the “A” qualifier on Saturday and in the A-B Page game Sunday morning to advance to the championship while Lenentine got to the final with a come-from-behind win over Charlottetown’s Lauren Moerike rink in Sunday afternoon’s semi-final. Lenentine scored a crucial triple in the eighth and stole a point in the extra end for a 9-8 victory.

In the morning draw MacKay defeated Lenentine 7-5 in the A-B game and Moerike advanced to the semi-final against Lenentine with a 13-4 win over Katie Rogers from Cornwall in the C-D game.
