At U16 Curling Provincials

ALBERTON -- Karlie Lewis and her rink from the host Western Community Curling Club trailed 5-0 after three ends of their afternoon draw in the O’Connor Glass Curl P.E.I. Provincial Under 16 curling championships today before fighting back to win the 1 p.m. game 8-6 over Maddison Moore and her Silver Fox rink. In other games, Katie Worth, Cornwall, kept her play-off chances alive with an 8-2 in over Breanna Rayner from Maple Leaf Curling Club and Devin Schut, Cornwall/Charlottetown, picked up his first win in the boys division with a 10-4 victory over Owen Collier and his Montague rink. Collier is winless in three starts.

With their loses, Moore and Rayner were eliminated from the girls eight-team triple knock-out competition. One girls team has already qualified for the Page play-off. One more will qualify in the 5 p.m. draw and the final two qualifiers will be determined in the 8:30 p.m. draw. The five boys teams are playing a single round robin format with the top three teams advancing to the play-offs. The girls play-off and the boys tie-breakers (if necessary) start Sunday morning.
