MONCTON, N.B. – A total of 18 swimmers from the Summerside Dolphin Swim Club participated in the New Brunswick short-course championships here recently.

Logan Palmer competes in a recent swim meet in Saint John, where he set three P.E.I. provincial 10-and-under records.

Overall, 285 swimmers and 23 teams from Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick competed.

“Our Dolphin swimmers performed much better than expected,” said Dolphins head coach Dave Campbell. “We had missed a lot of pool time due to weather, but our swimmers had a no-quit attitude.

“They gave 100 per cent in every race, and it showed – an-over-85-per-cent best-time performances.”

Logan Palmer, 12, Timmy Yorke, 13, and Abbey Corish provided highlights of the day.

Palmer set a new P.E.I. record in the 100-metre butterfly heat – 1:20.4 – and broke it again in the finals – 1:18.42.

Yorke posted a qualifying time for East Coast championships in the 200 free.

Corish, who turned 13 to enter the new 13-14 age group, had a fantastic meet with six of eight personal-best swims.

Also having personal bests in most races were Yorke, Liam Bulger, Nathan Fennell, Colton Profitt, Ian Hink, Grace Meade and Mateo Gomez.
