The Island Storm’s six-game winning streak is over.
The Storm lost 102-91 Thursday to the Moncton Miracles in National Basketball League of Canada action in the Hub City.
Johnny Mayhane led the way with 29 points while Trayvon Lathan added 21.
Antonio Ballard and Nick Okorie led the Storm with 27 and 24 points, respectively. Ballard added 13 rebounds while Okorie had five assists.
Antwi Atuahene added 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting.
Moncton held quarter leads of 25-15, 50-43 and 76-70.
The Storm falls to 17-14 while Moncton improves to 12-20. A win last night would have tied last year’s record of 18-13 through 31 games.
Both team shot 42 per cent from the floor while Moncton shot better from three-point territory (50 to 37 per cent) and the free-throw line (74 to 59 per cent).
The Miracles held the advantage on the glass (56-46) and had three fewer turnovers. Moncton’s bench outscored the Storm’s 41-30.
The Storm hosts the Halifax Rainmen (6-24) tonight at 7 p.m. The Storm beat them 103-75 on Tuesday.
Ballard set a new franchise record for points in a season in Tuesday’s contest, breaking Brandon Robinson’s previous mark of 636 set last year.
