CHARLOTTETOWN – It was a night of record performances at Eastlink Centre as the Island Storm won their sixth straight game and a record-tying fifth in a row at home, with a 103-75 win over the Halifax Rainmen on Tuesday.
The win moved the Storm, who improved to 17-13 (won-lost), to within 1 1/2 games of first-place Saint John (18-11) in the Atlantic Division of the National Basketball League of Canada.
Antonio Ballard, the Wendy's Storm player of the game, scored 30 points to go along with eight rebounds. Ballard now has 651 points on the season – a Storm single-season franchise record for points in the regular season.
Steve Tchiengang had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds, and Nick Okorie scored 14 points.
Jason Williams had 21 points to lead Halifax (6-24).
The Storm trailed 40-32 at halftime, but outscored the Rainmen 71-35 in the second half for the win.
The Storm hits the road Thursday to play in Moncton against the Miracles, and then come back home to entertain the Rainmen again on Friday at 7 p.m.
