Zone 2 gymnastics competition goes Thursday

At Slemon Park’s Canada Games Sports Centre

SLEMON PARK – The Zone 2 P.E.I. School Athletic Association gymnastics competition is scheduled for the Canada Games Sports Centre here on Thursday, Feb. 6.

The storm date is Friday, Feb. 7, and if there is a morning delay in the opening of schools on Thursday the competition will be moved to Friday.

The competition is scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m., with pre-novice (Grades 3 and 4) competitors taking to the floor from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The novice boys and girls (Grades 5 and 6) and bantam categories will follow from noon to 2:30 p.m.

“We welcome parents, family members and friends to come and view the great talents and efforts put forth by the competing athletes,” read a media release issued by organizers. “We also extend a thank you to coaches and leadership students within the schools, who helped work with and prepare the student competitors.”


Athletes competing in the zone meet will represent the following schools; Greenfield Elementary, Parkside Elementary, Miscouche Consolidated, Queen Elizabeth Elementary, L'ecole Sur Mer, Elm Street Elementary, Somerset Elementary, Amherst Cove, Athena Consolidated, Summerside Intermediate School (SIS) and Kensington Intermediate-Senior High (KISH).

Those who place and qualify at the zone meet will move on to compete at the provincial level. The PEISAA Milk Sport gymnastics provincial competition is scheduled for KISH on Saturday, Feb. 15.
