The six-foot-nine Dixon played college basketball at Providence College of the Big East Conference. Over two seasons, he started 61 of 63 games for the Friars, shooting nearly 52 per cent from the floor and grabbing almost seven rebounds a game.

Dixon started this year with Abejas of the Mexican Pro Basketball League, where he averaged over five points and five rebounds in nine games while shooting 55 per cent from the floor.

“Bilal is a proven player from one of the top conferences in all of college basketball coming from the Big East,” said Storm head coach Joe Salerno. “He rebounds the basketball, can defend and score from the low post.

“He has the size and mobility to be an effective big (man) in our league. I am very excited to have Bilal come on board. I think he will quickly become a fan favourite.”

The Storm also announced Phil Jones has been released.
