Pinner notches eighth in a row

CHARLOTTETOWN – “Pinner and Campbell unstoppable at Charlottetown,” boomed track announcer Vance Cameron as the pacer extended his winning streak to eight at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino on Saturday.

Time of the mile was 1:59 flat.

Judges rated the Charlottetown Driving Park (CDP) oval as good with a one-second variant due to rain when the feature race went behind the starting gate.

Marc Campbell, who enjoyed a driving triple to take the lead in the 2014 driver standings, sent the Brian Ladner-trainee to front, yielding briefing to Cambest Kisser en route to the opening quarter in a stiff 28.3. Pinner reclaimed command of the tempo through splits of 59.2 and 1:30.1.

The one-length-charted victory was over Miracle Matts (Corey MacPherson), and Cambest Kisser (Jason Hughes) completed the triactor. The 3-4-6 combination returned $43.90.

Brian, Kevin and Lillian Ladner of Charlottetown own Pinner.

Back-up class

Mcmaverick beat Camcun by a nose to claim the back-up class in 1:58 for the fastest mile of the day. Ken Murphy engineered the trip for owner-trainer Keith Campbell of Tyne Valley.

Wonderous Hanover, in line to Mike McGuigan, delivered as the post-time favourite in the trot class. Mitchell Tierney of Cornwall and William Andrew of Calgary, Alta., own the mare.

Miramonttogo delighted long-shot players when driver Irwin Neill was able to rally the pacer to score in Race 6. The win ticket paid $88.70.
