CHARLOTTETOWN – Pinner has been established as the favourite in the afternoon feature event at Red Shores Racetrack Casino on Saturday.

But odds-makers have listed two horses with a shot of ending his winning streak. The track crew did an amazing job with the Charlottetown Driving Park (CDP) oval, getting it prepped for the 13-dash card. Post time is set for 1 p.m.

Marc Campbell has the driving assignment as Pinner, owned by Kevin, Lillian and trainer Brian Ladner of Charlottetown, goes for his eighth consecutive victory. The son of Mach Three headlines the power-packed six-horse field.

“There’s not much more you can say about a horse that’s won seven in a row,” said race analyst Les MacIsaac. “Looks like the only thing that will stop him is the end of the meet.”

You can review all the picks at McJestic (3-1) and Cambest Kisser (7-2) will try to spoil the party.

Cambest Kisser (Jason Hughes) went after Pinner early in the last start in an attempt to rough up the favourite, but that didn’t work and he settled for second place.

On the other hand, McJestic draws the rail and shows some fast closers, so that may help to grab a piece of the triactor. Brodie MacPhee will drive McJestic for owner-trainer Troy Murray of Cornwall.

Panacotta (Mark Bradley), Miracle Matts (Corey MacPherson) and Nobestbfor (Walter Cheverie) will also make this match interesting.

Other action

In other action, Van Zant is the morning-line favourite for Team Matheson in the back-up class. McMaverick from the Keith Campbell stable of Tyne Valley and Stayoutofmyaffair are also top candidates.

Pictonian Walton goes for his third win in a row in the afternoon finale for young driver Brandon Webster. Webster, who recorded his first lifetime win back on Nov. 16, rallied for a win on New Year’s Eve, and then came back last week for another victory after being parked the entire mile.

The 21 year-old Morell resident takes Pictonian Walton from Post 4 for owner Roger MacRae of Belfast.

Red Shores is proud to launch the harness racing fans choice awards. The ballot is located in the on-track race program. Fans can select their favourites in several categories. The winners will be announced in a few weeks.
