The Caps are scheduled to host the Amherst Ramblers at 7:30 p.m.

With the Christmas break approaching for the schools across Prince Edward Island, the Capitals are extending an invitation to everyone enrolled in elementary to post-secondary education programs to attend the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) game.

The Caps are looking to build on the success of last year’s event.

“We held it for all grade-school kids (last year), and it was a tremendous success,” said Capitals general manager Pat McIver. “This year, we didn’t want to exclude anyone.

“We wanted to send an invitation to all grade school, university, college or even adult education students to come out to the game on us.”

Along with their student identification cards, fans are also encouraged to wear their school colours. Prizes will be given out for some groups of students who are cheering the loudest.

Capitals team president Dave Groom adds that a big part of the organization is ensuring that their players get a quality education.

”This is a natural fit for us extending an invitation to all these students, because most of our players are either enrolled in high school or post secondary.”
