Christmas Classic defending champs defeat Westisle

SUMMERSIDE – The Prince Andrew Panthers took the first step towards defending the Three Oaks Senior High School Christmas Classic championship on Thursday night.

The Panthers opened round-robin play in the senior AAA boys’ basketball tournament with an 89-50 victory over the Westisle Wolverines at the Three Oaks gymnasium.

The Panthers, led by Tyshon Boutlier’s 17 points, led 49-22 at halftime. Kenan Wilkie led Westisle with 24 points.
Friday, the Wolverines play Colonel Gray at 2 p.m., and Charlottetown Rural at 5 p.m. Both of those games will be played at Summerside Intermediate School.

In other action Thursday evening, the host Three Oaks Axemen defeated the Bluefield Bobcats 76-26, and the Charlottetown Rural Raiders downed the Colonel Gray Colonels 64-37.
