Players from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick attended the competition, but they were no match for Gregory, a Three Oaks Senior High School teacher, who went a perfect 11-0 to win the men's A division title. Charlottetown's Alex Younker finished second with a 10-1 record, his only defeat coming against Gregory, who won in four games.
Nova Scotian Luc Tarhan won the B title with a 5-0 record, with teammate Hazen Heizer finishing second at 3-2. Sami Yacoub and Mohammed Itani of Charlottetown finished tied for third with 2-3 records, while Hassan Itani, also of Charlottetown, was sixth.
"It was tough for our junior players who just lacked that killer instinct in the close matches," said coach and organizer Najam Chishti. "However they will take a lot from this, and it was a great learning experience."
A training camp for the Island's top juniors has been scheduled for the holiday break.
