Ballard keys Storm win in Halifax

HALIFAX – Antonio Ballard was a one-man show for the Island Storm on Sunday afternoon.

Ballard scored with less than 15 seconds left in the game, and then stole an inbounds pass with five seconds to go to give the Island Storm an exciting 108-107 come-from-behind win over the Halifax Rainmen at the Metro Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Ballard finished the game with another double-double – 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The win improved the Storm’s record to 7-5 (won-lost) while the Rainmen are still winless in nine games.

Adrian Moss led the way for the Storm with 33 points, including a 7-for-9 performance from the three-point line. Greg Plummer also hit seven three-pointers on nine attempts and finished with 27 points.

Cheyne Gadson and Tim Parham each scored 19 points for Halifax.

The Storm is back in action on Tuesday night, when the Moncton Miracles visit the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown. Game time is 7 p.m.
