CHARLOTTETOWN – Members of the Toshidokan Judo Club (TJC) in Summerside competed in the first annual Jigaro Jam tournament here on Saturday as part of Sports Day in Canada.
TJC coach Chris Townsend was impressed not just with the results, but with the effort that all his athletes put into the competition.
“TJC is all about fighting spirit, and all the judokas showed their spirit this (past) Saturday in this competition that included judokas from all three Judo P.E.I. member clubs,” notes a media release.
Sebastian Nash received the award for top judoka from the TJC for his gold-medal performance, which included one bout that lasted five seconds.
This also marked the first tournament for the majority of students.
The TJC trains at the Summerside Boys and Girls Club on Mondays and Thursdays starting at 6 p.m.
