MILL RIVER – The 2013 P.E.I. School Athletic Association Source for Sports Provincial Cross Country Championship was held Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Mill River Provincial Park, hosted by the WestIsle family of schools.

There were 113 competitors in the bantam boys division of the Provincial Cross Country Championship held over the weekend in Mill River. The boys from M.E. Callaghan junior high took home the Bantam title beating out the Stonepark Intermediate boys by just two points.
A total of 708 students ran in eight different categories. This championship only showcased the pre-novice to the midgets categories. Seniors and juvenile categories will hold their provincial championship this Thursday, Oct. 24, at Charlottetown Rural High School.
In Saturday morning competitions, the midget boys team title went to Queen Charlotte Intermediate. The midget girls category went to Stonepark Intermediate. A total of 80 runners ran the 3-km course.
Stonepark Intermediate defended their bantam girl title by edging Summerside Intermediate by only two points. The bantam boys title went to M.E. Callaghan edging out Stonepark Intermediate by two points.
A total of 113 runners ran this 3-km course.
In the afternoon, groups from Montague Consolidated won pre-novice girls, Eliot River won their second title in a row in the pre-novice boys, novice boys category went to LM Montgomery Elementary in Charlottetown, and novice girls went to St. Louis Elementary edging West Royalty Elementary by two points.
