Walikraam, a golf club management student from Bermuda, fired rounds of 84 and 82 at the difficult Links at Crowbush Cove over the weekend to claim the 2013 Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association (ACAA) women’s golf championship individual title. She went on to win by 15 strokes.
This is the second time Walikraam has won this championship, last year winning the event by two strokes. Walikraam has also been perfect in her season thus far, winning all three ACAA events she has entered.
The women’s team went on to finish the team competition in second place.
Locke, a second-year golf club management student from Digby, N.S., shot impressive rounds of 70 and 69 to finish at 5-under-par for the competition, 14 strokes clear of the runner-up.
During Sunday’s round, Locke added an exclamation point on his round when he aced the par-3 sixth hole. It was Locke’s third hole-in-one this season.
In the other two ACAA tournaments that Locke competed in this fall, he tied for first in his first event at Mactaquac Golf Club in Fredericton, N.B., and finished third at the event in Pugwash, N.S., at Northumberland Links.
Both the men’s and women’s golf teams are ready to travel to Quebec City for the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) PING national golf championships at the Royal Quebec Golf Club from Oct. 14 to 18.
