CHARLOTTETOWN – Soccer players Kristin Hood and Josh Martin have been chosen as the Holland Hurricanes’ athletes of the week for the week ending Sept. 29.

Hood, a forward from Charlottetown, scored the Hurricanes’ two goals on Sunday in their 2-2 tie versus the University of King’s College.
She also played a strong game in the Hurricanes’ loss to Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) on Saturday. Both games took place in Halifax, N.S.
Hood is a first-year player with the Hurricanes in the sport and leisure management program at Holland College.
The women’s Hurricanes are currently in fourth place in the Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association (ACAA) women’s soccer standings with a record of 3-3-2 (won-lost-tied).
Martin is from Sydney, N.S., and is a centre-back for the Hurricanes in his rookie season. He is currently enrolled in the sport and leisure management program.
Martin provided defensive stability and made smart plays over the weekend as the Hurricanes earned two scoreless ties versus the MSVU Mystics and UKC Blue Devils in Halifax.
The Holland College men are currently tied for third place in the ACAA men’s soccer standings at 2-1-5.
The Hurricanes’ soccer teams are in action next on Wednesday against the Dalhousie Agricultural College Rams in Truro, N.S. The women’s game begins at 6 p.m., while the men’s game starts at 8 p.m.
