SUMMERSIDE - The Summerside Western Capitals have traded for the player rights to Chris Clarke, Jordan Keizer and future considerations from the Valley Wildcats.
In return, the Caps send Steven Brooker, Jordan Bezanson, Patrick Stewart, a fourth round draft pick in 2014 obtained from Dieppe, a fourth round pick in 2015 and future considerations.
Capitals general manager Pat McIver is satisfied with the move.
"We were able to trade a few guys who weren't in our plans," said McIver. "Some players will get closer to home and one had a commitment to school."
The general manager said it wasn't a blockbuster trade but still had value for both sides.
The players traded from Summerside haven't been with the team long, as some were only part of the training camp roster.
McIver said the trade came together on Saturday evening after the Caps defeated the Wildcats 4-2 in Annapolis Valley.
"They were searching for a defenceman and they got one in the trade," he said. "We got a goaltender that could potentially play a role on our team."
The Caps fell 7-4 to the Miramichi Timberwolves in the team's home opener on Sunday at Credit Union Place. They play next on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Amherst against the Ramblers.
