CHARLOTTETOWN – The second annual Red Cup Classic, presented by the new Lotto 6/49, returns to Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park on Saturday at 6 p.m.
There is also a matinee card at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway on Sunday that begins at 1 p.m.
The Red Cup Classic is a festival-style event with racing, live entertainment, prize giveaways, trackside presentations and promotions over two days at Island racetracks.
Panacotta has drawn the rail in the Red Cup Classic feature Saturday for driver Blaine Baglole and owner Shane Baglole of Cornwall.
The morning-line favourite is Veronicavermillion from Post 4 for Brian MacPhee. The Neil Bambrick-trainee has been very sharp with performances in the 1:55 range. This will be a tough assignment.

Lyrical Lindy, owned by Bill Andrew of Calgary, Alta., is the morning-line favourite at 5-2 in the evening’s trot class. Corey MacPherson will be in the driver’s seat for trainer Blaine McKenna.
The Mr. Trot Challenge standings have been posted, and Marc Campbell still leads the way at 114 points. Walter Cheverie is second with 109, Ron Gass is third at 100 and Willie Murphy is fourth with 96. The challenge, presented by Johnston’s Salads and Keybrand Foods Inc., awards points on a 10-7-5 basis for a 1-2-3 finish with trotters in Charlottetown.
