Atlantic mosquito AAA baseball ch’ship concludes in Richmond today
RICHMOND – The New Brunswick-champion Fredericton Royals have completed round-robin play at the Atlantic mosquito AAA baseball championship undefeated.
The Royals, who are coached by former Summerside Western Capitals’ scoring star Brent Grant, trimmed the St. John’s Capitals from Newfoundland and Labrador 12-2 in Saturday’s final game.
The win improved the Royals’ record to 4-0 (won-lost) while the Capitals, who close out the round robin against the Charlottetown Royals (0-3) on Sunday at 11:15 a.m., fell to 1-2.
The host Richmond Red Sox (1-2) will meet the Dartmouth Arrows (2-1) in their round-robin finales on Sunday at 9 a.m.
If Richmond defeats Dartmouth, tournament organizers have confirmed Fredericton will be declared the champions as they will be undefeated and have two more wins than the second-place team. However, if Dartmouth wins against Richmond and improves to 3-1, the Arrows and Fredericton will meet in a championship game this afternoon.
