In Kensington on Saturday night
KENSINGTON – Fans will have their first opportunity to check out the new Kensington Wild franchise in game action on Saturday night.
Major Midget Hockey
The Wild, who are formerly the Cornwall Thunder, will host the Charlottetown Islanders in an exhibition game at Community Gardens. The puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Both the Wild and Islanders play in the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League.
The Wild is looking for a good crowd in their home debut. Kensington’s regular-season home opener is against the Saint John Vitos on Saturday, Sept. 21.
“With this being a new team in Kensington, management is looking forward to giving the Kensington and area fans a chance to see the best midget-aged hockey players in the Maritimes,” notes a media release from the Wild.
In an effort to expose the major midget product, the Wild will be granting free admission to all students for Saturday’s game, and season tickets will be available for purchase in the main lobby of the arena.
