At Inverness Raceway on Wednesday night
INVERNESS, N.S. – Prince Edward Island-owned trotters won three of four Atlantic Sires Stakes’ events here at Inverness Raceway on Wednesday evening.
Dusty Lane Galaxy and driver Gary Chappell captured the first of two divisions for two-year-old trotters in a time of 2:08 for owners Peter Buchanan of North Wiltshire and the Estate of George Boswall of Frenchfort.
The second two-year-old event went to B J Comanche and driver Clare MacDonald in a time of 2:06.4. Bert Honkoop of Montague owns B J Comanche.
The three-year-old trotters also had their opportunity to shine as Topway and driver Walter Cheverie took first-place honours in their division for owner Sandra White of Belle River. Time of the mile was 2:04.2.
Meanwhile, MacDonald won her second Atlantic Sires Stakes’ event of the program with West River Xcel in 2:03.2. MacDonald's West River Stock Farm of Antigonish, N.S., owns West River Excel.
Atlantic Sires Stakes’ racing action will heat up again at Inverness Raceway on Sunday at 1:30 p.m., when the two-year-old pacing colts roll into town. Three A divisions will each go for a purse pool of $7,220, and one B event will go for $2,500.
