Hannah Taylor and Ligrit Sadiku train at Colonel Gray High School in Charlottetown.
The Summerside resident has been invited to train with Olympian and former national and world champion Martine Dugrenier in Montreal.
“She (Dugrenier) wants me to come to Montreal a few times during the year and train and stay with her,” said Taylor, who will wear Canada’s red and white colours at next week’s FILA cadet world championship in Zrenjanin, Serbia.
Taylor wasn’t told about this opportunity until after the Canada Games.
“Martine has always been a really good coach for me,” said Taylor. “When I didn’t even know her and I had just wrestled one of her girls, she would come up to me and say, ‘That was a great match, but here, let me show you this. You could have been more successful with this move.’
“It’s really cool for her to notice me, want to train me and it’s real exciting.”

Taylor, who is entering Grade 10 at Three Oaks Senior High School in September, will continue to go to school in Summerside.
“Schools always seem to pick PD (professional development) days around long weekends, and maybe she (Hannah) can miss only one day of school and get five days of training,” said Hannah’s mother, Bonnie Taylor.
Dugrenier, the 2005 Canadian female wrestler of the year, has also invited Hannah and her training partner, Ligrit Sadiku, who is also from Summerside, to compete in the Sparta Cup in Puerto Rica in October 2013.
“It’s kind of cool I’m going to have two back-to-back international tournaments,” said Hannah. “It’s going to be awesome.”
