MacDonald fell behind the Craig Lepine rink from British Columbia 4-1 after three ends, before scoring a single in the fourth of the afternoon draw.
MacDonald and his teammates then stole three points in the fifth end, and singles in ends six, seven and eight for a 7-4 lead.
Lepine scored a single in the ninth to pull to within two, but left an open takeout for MacDonald in the tenth end to give the Island team an 8-5 win.
In other men’s action Sunday afternoon, Saskatchewan’s Gord Bell rink fell 9-5 to Quebec’s Robert MacLean rink. Both Saskatchewan and Quebec stand at 1-2.
Manitoba’s Bob Sigurdson foursome defeated Bruce Munro and his Northern Ontario rink 8-2. The win pulled Manitoba into a second-place tie with P.E.I., ands dropped Northern Ontario to 0-3.
In senior women’s action Sunday afternoon, New Brunswick’s Heidi Hanlon rink took a close match over Judy Oryniak’s Ontario rink 8-7.
Nova Scotia’s Colleen Pinkney rink remained undefeated at 3-0 with a 6-4 win over the Catherine Derick from Quebec. Alberta’s Deb Santos is also undefeated at 3-0 after handing Newfoundland’s Laura Phillips rink their first loss by a score of 9-5. Phillips is 2-1.
