The Vipers took control in the second period, and never looked back en route to a 7-2 victory over the Montague Maniacs on Tuesday night.
The Vipers scored four unanswered goals in the middle frame to take a 5-1 lead into the second intermission.
The win gives the Vipers a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven semifinal series. Kensington can clinch the series with a win on home ice at Community Gardens in Game 5 on Wednesday. The opening faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
Balanced scoring
At the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre in Montague, 13 different players recorded points for the Vipers. Goals came off the sticks of Brett Hogan (2-1), Adam Wight (1-1), Mitch Gallant (1-1), Isaac Jay, Tyler Doyle and Kyle Doucette.
Jordan Gallant and Adam Fitzpatrick answered for the Maniacs.
Logan Reid earned the goaltending win over Alex Micalef.
Referee Paul Matte called nine of 12 minor penalties against the Vipers. Each team was assessed one 10-minute misconduct.
