The Capitals can equal the franchise record of 43 wins with a road victory over the Campbellton Tigers. The Capitals take a 42-7-2-0 (won-lost-overtime losses-shootout losses) mark into the game.
The 2006-07 Capitals, who were coached by Forbie Kennedy, Mike Kennedy and Dave Mitchell, hold the franchise mark of 43 wins. That team went 43-14-0-1 over a 58-game schedule.
This year’s Caps, coached by Bill McGuigan, Thomas Waugh and Tim Schurman, will play six fewer regular-season games – 52.
Also at stake on the final night of the regular season is the league scoring championship.
The Capitals’ Danny Chiasson, who has 84 points, is one point back of Kyle Morrison of the Truro Bearcats. Morrison has 33 goals and 52 assists while Chiasson checks in with 33 goals and 51 helpers.
The Bearcats host the Woodstock Slammers.
The Capitals will open the post-season against the Miramichi Timberwolves in the best-of-seven Roger Meek Division semifinal series at Eastlink Arena on Sunday, March 17. The opening faceoff is slated for 2 p.m.
After making the trip to Miramichi for Game 2 on Tuesday, March 19, the teams will return to Summerside for Game 3 on Thursday, March 21.
