In girls’ action, the Vernon River Mustangs outlasted the Miscouche Mustangs 34-28, and the Souris Spartans downed the host Summerside Intermediate School Owls 40-23.
The boys’ contests featured the Morell Marlins getting by the Kensington Torchmen 68-63, and the Montague Storm topped Miscouche 52-42.
Vernon River 34 Miscouche 28
Vernon River built up a 22-9 lead at halftime, and held on to defeat Miscouche.
Miscouche scored 14 of its 28 points in the fourth quarter, but ran out of time.
Top scorer for Vernon River was Zoie Farish with 12 points, and the leading point-getter scorer for Miscouche was Kelsey MacKinnon (11).
Souris 40 Summerside Intermediate 23
Souris scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and cruise to a 17-point victory.
Miranda Veld led the attack for the Spartans with 16 points, and Jasmine Laybolt chipped in with 10. Sarah Campbell scored eight points to lead the Owls.
Morell 68 Kensington 63
In an exciting game that featured a fast pace and end-to-end action, Morell pulled out a close decision over Kensington.
The game was tied 33-33 at halftime and 48-48 after three quarters.
The duo of Ethan Craig and Shane Pendergast scored 31 points each to pace the speedy Marlins. Kyle Pinkson scored 23 to keep the Torchmen close.
Montague 52 Miscouche 42
Montague, which built a 28-15 lead at the half, was led by the nine-point efforts of Jacob Bedell and Jake Banks.
Dante Perry (13) and Brett Aikens (10) were Miscouche’s leading offensive producers.
