ALBERTON – It’s four women’s championships in a row for the Ruth Stavert/Gloria Clarke duo from the Cornwall Curling Club at the Ferguson Funeral Homes/Curl P.E.I. provincial stick curling championships.

Topics :
Western Community Curling Club , Cornwall

Stavert and Clarke claimed their most recent title at the Western Community Curling Club on Wednesday. They finished round-robin play with a 3-1 (won-lost) record, ahead of the Cornwall team Shirley Lank/Mary Plamondon at 2-2, and the Ann Barwise/Audrey Callaghan rink from the host club (1-3).

The rules dictate that, since a definitive winner came out of the round robin, no championship game was necessary.

Open Divisions

Two teams lead with 5-1 records in each of the two open pools – men’s and mixed teams.

Eddie Bernard/Roger Gavin, from the host club, and Cornwall’s Sterling Stavert/Ernie Stavert are atop the Pool A.

The Bill Glydon/Eldon Hardy rink from Western, and Roddie MacLean/Paul Field from Cornwall are the Pool B leaders.

The Open Division’s round robin concludes with Thursday’s 12:30 p.m. draw, followed by the quarter-finals at 2:15 p.m., semifinals at 3:30 p.m., and the final and consolation final at 5 p.m.
