QUEBEC CITY – The Western Warriors are off to a good start at the 54th Quebec international peewee tournament.

Topics :
Quebec Major Junior Hockey League , Quebec

The Warriors, who are playing as the P.E.I. Rocket at the tournament, won their first two games, and will play again on Thursday afternoon. Their opponent was to be decided on Wednesday afternoon.

If the Warriors lose that game they are eliminated, and if they win they play again on Friday afternoon.

The Warriors opened play against the Beauce-Nords Rapides with a 4-1 win on Feb. 14. Colin Gaudette earned the goaltending win.

The Warriors played their second tournament game on Tuesday, and defeated the Montmorency Bataillon from Quebec 2-1 in a shootout after a 4-on-4 overtime period solved nothing.

Each team selected three players for the shootout, and the Warriors’ Brad Morrissey scored the only goal. Western goaltender Jacob Gallant played an outstanding game.

The Warriors also won an exhibition game against Campus DPR Noroits by a 3-1 score. Gaudette and Gallant shared the goaltending duties in that match.

Off-ice activities

The Warriors have also participated in some off-ice team activities as well, including visiting the Valcartier tobogganing park and they took in the Quebec Remparts’ game in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on Tuesday night. That allowed the players an opportunity to cheer on the Remparts’ Blake Millman, who is from the Alberton area.

As well, team members have been busy trading pins with players from other teams.
