Berry, Hope advance to senior finals

SUMMERSIDE – The two winner-take-all finals are now set for the Credit Unions of P.E.I. provincial senior curling championships here at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht.

Defending champion Shirley Berry and her combined rink from the Cornwall Curling Club and Silver Fox defeated Montague’s Jennifer Scott foursome 8-1 in the women’s semifinal on Monday afternoon.

Just a few sheets over from the women’s game, Bill Hope and his combined rink from the Cornwall Curling Club and the Silver Fox defeated The Fox’s Blair Jay 9-4 in the men's semifinal.

The two finals are slated for The Fox later today at 6 p.m. Hope will take on Rod MacDonald and his undefeated Charlottetown Curling Complex rink, and Berry will meet Nola Murphy of The Fox.

The winning teams will represent P.E.I. at the Canadian senior curling championships, which will be held at The Fox for the third time from March 16 to 24.
