North River to now face Southside in semifinals

CORNWALL – The North River Flames have advanced in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League playoffs.

The Flames defeated the Tyne Valley Clover Farmers 8-1 on Wednesday night to sweep the best-of-five quarter-final series. The Flames, who finished the regular season in third place, will now take on the second-place Southside Lynx from Crapaud in one best-of-seven semifinal series.

The first-place Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces will take on the winner of the Morell-Belfast quarter-final series. Both the Lynx and Aces had first-round byes.

At the APM Centre in Cornwall, Ryan MacGuigan (2), Cameron McMurdo (1-2), Dan MacPhee (1-2), Brad Power (1-1), Brad Vukicevic (1-1), Logan LeClair (1-1) and Brennan Dalziel (1-1) lit the lamp for the Flames.

Cody Arsenault, assisted by Tyler Peters and Travis Thibideau, netted the lone Tyne Valley goal.

The Flames jumped out to period leads of 3-0 and 6-1.

Taylor Doyle picked up the goaltending win as the Flames outshot the Clover Farmers 48-25.
